CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Oct. 14 (PIA)—The Provincial Government of Quirino has allotted P7 million as initial funds for the Palay Marketing Assistance for Legislators and Local Government Units (PALLGU) program of the National Food Authority (NFA) that aims to help the small farmers cope with the effects of the rice tariffication law.

NFA Provincial Manager Emerson Rabilas said the provincial government and the NFA entered into an agreement to provide an additional P3.00 on top of the latter’s palay buying price of P19 per kilogram starting this harvest season.
Rabilas said Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua has already approved the implementation of the PALLGU program to be able to increase the NFA's buying price at P22 per kilogram.
Under the PALLGU, the NFA can procure 20-30 bags of palay at P22 per kilogram from the 11,000 small farmers listed by the six Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAO) in the province.
Rabilas further said that all regular farmers are welcome to sell their rice produce up to 50 bags to NFA under the regular procurement price of P19 per kilogram and if they are included in the lists of the MAOs in their respective towns, their 30 bags will be bought at P22 per kilogram.
